The smell of the petit grain bigarade is that of citrus fruits, acidulous, fresh and floral, with a pronounced note of orange.
Originating from Asia, the bigarade tree was introduced to Spain by the Arabs in the 9th century, where it took on the name “Seville orange tree”, even though its fruits (bigarades) are not suitable for human consumption.
Today, it is harvested in many countries, in particular India, China and Paraguay.
